Yarra Pygmy Perch
Vulnerable & Threatened

Friends of Waurn Ponds Creek conducted a 'Clean Up' of the surrounds of Waurn Ponds Creek on Sunday, March 4 starting at the Baseball car park near the junction of Pioneer Rd & Meadowvale Drive, Grovedale.

The 'Clean Up' was from 9.00am till noon, stopping for a delicious morning tea at 10.30am. Under the current manufacturing climate, the Anzac biscuits were a tasty talking point.

35 people from all various ages registered to help clean up the creek. We thank Bunnings for their kind donation of equipment and protective gear that made life a little easier for us all.

In the 3 hours we were there, we collected numerous supermarket trolleys, wheels, several lumps of timber, large sheets of plastic and a skip and a half full of rubbish.

The vulneable little Yarra Pygmy Perch has a much cleaner habitate, thanks to the work of all.
